New Moon Hike: Crown Point After Dark
Join Executive Director Kevin Gross, on a walk through the vast prairie and serene forest after sunset under a New Moon on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024 from 6:30-8:30pm at Crown Point Ecology Center.
Observe Crown Point in a different light, in a way perhaps you are not used to exploring nature, at low light! Learn and talk about how different types of wildlife have evolved to flourish and live most of their lives at night, nocturnally, with little light. Use senses other than sight to observe the natural world at night.
Before we venture out into the prarie and forest, we will talk about how certain animals are equipped to thrive at night and learn how to identify various animals and insects just by the sounds they make.
As this is a night hike with a New Moon, there will be less ambient light than usual, making it a memorable experience for all! This hike should recharge your connection with nature and expand your appreciation for some of the sights and sounds typically hidden during the day.
The evening wouldn’t be complete without a roasted s’more or two! Weather permitting.
