First Fruits Initiative

Fighting Food Insecurity Through Community Outreach

  • Each year we aim to donate a quarter of our annual organic produce harvest to The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and other local food pantries.

Fresh produce donations are especially important as so many people in our community experience hunger and live in areas where fresh fruits and vegetables are not available.

  • Each year we aim to donate thousands of organic vegetable, herb and native perennial pollinator plants to Akron-Cleveland area community gardens.

These plants allow people in need to grow their own fresh vegetables. This is especially important if they live in an area that does not have fresh produce or a grocery store nearby.

  • Each year we offer a limited amount of scholarships for children to attend our Summer Farm and Science Camp. Children who receive a scholarship for camp are low-income and do not have the means to attend given their circumstances.

  • We provide educational outreach to local schools and community groups about a variety of topics from sustainability, organic gardening, conservation and sustainable land stewardship.
